Heat Transfer
Before we start, we're going to start with a little keyboarding practice. Go to HOME ROW at Dance Mat Typing.
Today you're going to make a PowerPoint with four slides:
(1) A title slide: The Three Ways Energy Travels
(2) A slide for Conduction, Convection and Radiation each.
(3) On each slide, write down what each term means in your own words.
(4) Use one of the images below to illustrate conduction, convection and radiation.
Background Information
Heat can move in three different ways: Conduction, Convection and Radiation.
Conduction is the transfer of energy through matter from particle to particle.
Convection is the transfer of heat by the actual movement of the warmed matter.
Radiation of heat is the transfer of heat energy in the form of waves in the infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum.
